QUOTE…unquote

August 22, 2008

lam in a very philosophical mood these days and can’t stop thinking about some really amazing quotes I come across practically everyday. So before My brain cells burst let me put down some of these quotes here..

1. If god takes to you to it he takes you through it. ( I just realized it is a very famous one because these days my Mom keeps quoting this and I found it in R’s poem too.)

2. Never explain yourself to anyone .. because the person who likes you doesn’t need it and the person who doesn’t like you wont believe it. ( How true.! It works wonders! My favourite too! )

3. When we wake up in the morning , we have two simple choices. Go back to sleep and dream or wake up and chase those dreams.

( konjam over eh?! hehe! nevertheless it popped up in my mind and is a very sensible one too! )

4. Time is like a river. You cannot touch the same water twice because the flow that has passed will never pass again.

( Every time I think about this I almost instantly start doing some work!)

5. Brick walls(obstacles) are there for a reason. They are not there to keep you out but to show you how badly you want something.

( This one is from Randy Pausch’s Last lecture. Think over it for two minutes and everything seems nice.)

6. Often we lose all hope and think this is the end, god smiles from above and says,’relax child it is just a bend’.

( Another favourite of mine. It is not anything extraordinary but in testing times it sure helps.!)

That is all lam able to recollect now. Will keep writing more as and when i come across more! Collecting such quotes has become my new found pass time. Thanks to the zillion forwards I receive as SMS’s and the billion e-mails.

For those of you who have read this entry and have gotten into any kind of serious thinking, read it over again-You will be in Your best senses! :-)

P.S: I forgot to mention the all time favourite quote:” If you think You Can, you can. If you think You cant then you are right!”

was it just a Fad?

These days there are so many things in which I seem to have lost interest . One perfect example is “orkutting”. Until a few months back “orkutting” was my favorite pass time, a sort of stress buster. But ever since school got over and college started orkut is just not the same to me. I still do sign in everyday but only because I have an account and I don’t want it to be hacked( once again). Today every time I sign into orkut I Just can’t help remembering those days( school days) when orkut was full of fun. I know by now most of you must be thinking I am some internet addicted freak lost in the cyber space, but I am not. I very much exist in the real world( though occasionally I wander into dream land).

Reason why orkut is not the same to me anymore:

I am not in school anymore. This is one reason that tops the list for everything I don’t like these days. We would spend 8 hrs together everyday in school ( I mean my friends and me) chatting, gossiping, advising each other and yet would have much more to discuss on orkut practically every evening. Even on days when there would be absolutely nothing to talk about we would make it a point to “meet” online. It could be a day when there is no Homework( yeah right!) or a day when there a hell lot of work or even the day before THE BOARD EXAM but “orkutting” was a must( not just to me but most of them). I had this subject called BST(Business Studies) for which learning could never be completed till the minute the exam starts. While studying for this exam(in particular) I would make it a point to go online every 2 hours( just for 5 minutes even) only to find several others already online groaning and frantically asking each other how many lessons they are left with. It used to be so much fun. It didn’t even matter if there was nobody to chat with, there was always fun snooping around profiles( ESPECIALLY U’s), reading other’s scraps and just”orkutting”. Of course writing testimonials, asking for testimonials and reading testimonials are no far from the fun.

So, orkut to me was always associated with school days and hence is no longer fun.

waaaaaaah!!! :-( .

I miss school! ( I can’t help sounding so childish). I know those days wont come back but I can’t help thinking about them every day. Damn growing up sucks!

Top Ten wishes!

August 11, 2008

Everyday there a hundred things that I wish for. Things like wanting to sleep for the whole day, not wanting to go to school( college also!), wanting to poke my teacher’s eye( I know it’s gross but it is just a wish that never came true!!) and so on. It is just an endless list but most of them on it are just as crappy as the above and a few of them might happen when ants wear pants. No matter the wishes come true or not there are 10 nice ones I have wished all my life..

1. To work for a Top news channel(not reporting) and write my own sports column in a top newspaper( I have never mentioned this to anybody but when I say I want to be a journalist this is what I mean. The best of both worlds!)

2. To watch a grand slam final between World NO.1 Nadal( feels so nice!) and NO.2 Federer.( of course expecting Nadal to win)

3. To watch a live A.R.Rehman concert.( I did have a chance in 7th std. but thanks to appendicitis I missed it)

4. To be at Wembley to watch Chelsea playing Manchester United.( with U)

5. To start my own Montessori  school( I just  love kids and to add to this have quite a few nephews and nieces. Playing with them and baby sitting is just amazing fun. In fact I Am the  best baby sitter in the family or so the family says.)

6. To start a sports bar with U and R.( we have discussed about everything to do with this, even the approximate amount required. It is like the dream venture!)

7. To live in London.( I haven’t been there to know how it feels but London is where i want to be if abroad. NO U.S.A!. My first choice is of course India.)

8.To set on a world cruise.( It will probably happen when frogs wear frocks.)

9. To Learn Japanese.( most recent. Just popped out of boredom but nevertheless  I am very keen.)

10. I Just wish all the above come true!

The Blog Has Arrived!

August 3, 2008

I first learnt about what a blog is in my 7th or 8th std. The time when everybody in class got tech. savy with all e-mail accounts, yahoo groups and things like that. And then in the next few years I developed an interest in writing(closet writing)and people(family and friends.I know it sounds so cliche)suggested the idea of starting my own blog. Now the blog has arrived; it has taken three years to start this one. Not because I never found time, infact Iam probably the most vetti person available today. But since starting a blog is so simple( it took me 3 minutes-I timed it.)   procastination- the mother of all evils was always luring around.

Big sister is responsible for this blog started today. Firstly, eventhough she had no physical access to me she pushed me to start this blog. Secondly, her blog spilt sparks that inspired me.

What I will write in this blog is just random thoughts. I dont wish to cateogrise it into one genre because I know Iam the type who gets bored very easily. So like  I said I’ll just hold it to random thoughts-sports, movies, music, life in general.

Finally I have found my space in cyber world to scrap my thougts!

P.S: U and R(my besties).. mine is here?! where is yours?

why NAdAL is world no.1!

August 3, 2008

After a streak of 235 consecutive weeks atop the rankings, Roger Federer has been dethroned by Rafael Nadal-the most deserving player for the NO.1( at least going by this years’s game). After three years of chasing Federer ,Nadal will be moving to the spot in just a matter of few days. Novak djokovic set up the stage for this trade in rankings when he played Nadal in the semi finals of the cincinatti masters. Though Nadal lost the match there is plenty to cheer as he will become the World NO.1 on august 18th when the rankings are announced.

Roger Federer undoubtedly is one of the finest players of the game and until recently was just unbeatable eventhough nadal was always giving a solid fight. But despite his fine game there is something about federer that is just flat irritation. He lacks modesty and probably has a bit of attitude too. Rafael Nadal on the other hand , is extremely modest and flaunts no attitude. Federer fans reading this blog are iam pretty sure fuming as they read and so  for them ill paste some proof here.

On being asked about his possibility of losing th NO.1:  ”I don’t care.”"”Look, he’s doing well and I have done well in the past,” Federer said. To me it doesnt sound any nice. In contrast this is what Nadal had to say to a fan mail( yeah..he answers!) :

Hi, Rafa. First of all, I wanted to thank you for your spirit and dedication, that returned me old memories of Connors and McEnroe. I’d like to know how do you see yourself in the second half of the year, after Wimbledon. Do you think you can reach the number one?

Well, let’s see how I manage to finish the first half before thinking in the second one, right? This year has been the best one in my entire career, you only have to take a look at the points I’ve obtained and the regularity in every tournament besides Roma. I hope the second half of the year will be that good.About reaching the number one… we’ll see, I’m not thinking that much about it.

Ihave taken that from his website( everybody has onei know but he is very active).i hope this is not called plagiarism or anything.!

Whether this has managed to show you what federer is or not i dont care( oops..federer says that too!) but it ought to show you why Nadal deserves the NO.1 entirely for his tennis along with his modesty and sheer niceness that hardly one in many celebs have.

But no mater who is better i still want to see the Nadal-federer clash, so hey federer buck up ! To nadal all i want to say is VAMOS RAFA!!

RAH RAH RAFA!!
