This is my attempt to write down my favourite Rahman compositions.

1. Usulampatti penkutty- I love this song. Infact, I love my dad’s version of this song too! (Yes) :-)

Alla Rakha Rahman!

February 24, 2009
Rahman’s first song was Chinna chinna asai..for the National award wining film Roja. Today, the mozart of madras has won an OSCAR and it is obvious that every Indian is pressing the rewind button to go back 18 years and relish Rahman’s music all over again. We have 18 years to recap and listen while the Western audience has just been introduced to him and his music. I must say, Thank god for Rahman and I take so much pride in saying he is an Indian and that too from Chennai!
I grew up listening to Rahman’s music. I was born at a time when Illayaraja was already a legend and Rahman an upcoming contemporary musician. So, Rahman is my generation’ s legend.
His first song in some strange sense explains his journey from Roja to Slumdog.
Chinna chinna asai siragadikum asai..Muthu Muthu asai mundindhu vaitha asai..venilavu thotu mutam ida asai YENNA INDHA BOOMI SUTRIVARA ASAI. Indeed, Rahman the world is moving around you now.
In my opininon Jai ho is not Rahman’s best but if Americans rate it for Oscars I want  to tell  them “Finally you realised”
JAI HO~!!
