I am so confused . Not because of what is happening in my life. Not even about something that is happening around( well, anywhere close).I want somebody to tell me who is who in the “Thackeray” family. Each day some Thackeray makes breaking news!!

Nadal has been such a disappointment at the ATP World Tour Finals. It is different when you lose in the finals or even in the semis. It is OK to not qualify to the semis but not at all acceptable when World No.2 fails to win even a single match. There is no way he will be reading this,Nadal I hope you get fit and get over your parents split( Some people think that has taken a toll on him). I am sure 2010 is going to be a brilliant year for him(not just the start). Staying with tennis, Robin Soderling might be playing well but I don’t want to support him at the Chennai Open.

Finally the World Cup qualifiers is done. No major disappointments unless you consider Russia a major one. Already seen quite a bit of cheating(France). My pick is again Argentina. All of you supporting England please continue to follow the tournament after the Quarter finals also, as always!

My Spanish classes have been so much fun and learning. I have my level 1 exam in two weeks. How difficult is it to pass?

This month, fun with friends did not happen as expected thanks to some anti social ones( rather busy ones??).

College has been the same as ever-boring, bunking now and then, lot of junk eating , gossips, learning of course( why does that come last?).

Everybody is talking about the world ending in 2012. I want to live till then to see if it happens. The movie is worth watching though. The special effects is worth the tickets and pop corn. If at all the world ends that way, I want my family and friends to be as lucky as the family in the movie. However, until then it would be better if people could stop sending fwds saying love you, miss you because the world will end.

So 2009 is almost over. I want December to be a good one. I wish all of you have a great December as well.

P.S : I read Chetan Bagat’s latest-2 States. I loved the sarcasms , I like his books. Fun reading.

India has been successfully( ?) running as the largest democracy in the world for 60 years now. Yet somehow when it comes to politics, the common man has had a cliched response and opinion over these decades. I tell some people that I want to become a politician some day ( not very serious) and pat comes the cliched response” Politics? India? I am going to see you in the news for criminal charges some day huh?” For all of us politics is synonymous to corruption, red tap ism,  Goondaism and every criminal act possible. Very true indeed. There is a big criminal web across the system. But why believe that it cannot be changed and discourage people who show interest. We have seen many people who have stepped in and out of politics without being noticed, people who wanted to bring change( remember the party IITians started?). Very thoughtful but by now we must realize the party system in India is unaccommodating and there is hardly any life expectancy for independent candidates. Be the change, see the change is not working. Of course, today’s media is driving a big movement.

Why do people think politics is about serving people( read poor people)?. It is very annoying to see film stars enter politics because they want to serve people for all the support they showed. Thanks giving? Yet some how many people vote for them and elect them. People who are not happy about it do not vote.

Dynasty politics. For men born in families of politicians, entry into politics is a birth right. Some how, we never have control over this. We hate it yet live with it. I am a big fan of Rajiv Gandhi but many people failed to realize his abilities because of general aversion to dynasty politics. Down south, politicians are busy managing their own families.

Majority in India are poor and as a politician it is important to change that. But for how long are we going to pamper them with sops? Vote bank politics, the nucleus of Indian political system. I would never give away things for free, it is never worth it.

DEVELOP standard of primary education. Government schools should at par with the private ones. It is not impractical.

This would help them buy their own TV’s , LPG etc. Subsidizing is different, it is good but freebies?

Why can’t there be a law that specifies qualifications for a politician? I still believe if every man in that web is educated and decent things might change.

Indian Politics seems like a senseless system. One is either a dictator or a spectator. What we can do about it, I don’t know. But just complaining will not work and if this post sounds anything like that i would like to clarify otherwise.

I don’t know what I want to conclude, I have no ideas of revolutionary reforms but I want to contribute, big time at that. The system does not suck, it just needs repairs and qualified men to work on the repairs.! You and I cannot just do the change over night.

I just finished my 3rd semester in college which leaves me with three more to go, a year and a half.

I am looking forward to having a good time in the coming two months.

In Fashion weeks models line up and walk the ramp to show off the designers works. It is dedicated to them and the media is all over them. So what is this austerity week? The time when members of the Government and other politicians line up to show and proclaim their “austerity”. Oh of course they are just another mango man.

Wearing Khadi Kurtas , traveling by economy class, not owning cars should not measure their austerity. A simple man is one who does not claim how simple he is. It is not wrong to be rich, it is not wrong to spend but it is certainly wrong to show that you are a simple man despite being otherwise.

The fact that a report in the media about two ministers staying in a five star hotel because they have not been allotted their Government houses can stir up such a big debate just  indicates  how hypocritical our politicians are.

We the common people do not have a problem with you trying to be a common man by flying the economy class, traveling by trains as long as that is not going to cost us inconvenience and additional  security checks.

We the common people do not have a problem with you trying to be a common man by wearing Khadi Kurtas as long as it is the same Khadi we wear and not some designer made one. Apparently, an MP from the parliament  had suggested a designer for Nandan Nelekani to get his Khadi Kurtas because suits are not a true representation of the Indian people. *sigh*

We the common people do not have a problem with you trying to be a common man if you would like to show us that your accounts  with the Swiss banks are non existent.

Have you ever wondered how some things in life change and the change was never felt through the course of time?

Have you been wanting to call some friend but just not able to get down and do it? Is it a part of growing up or is it arrogance?!

They were friends since their first day out of home. They went to the same play school, learned  to read and write together. They walked from school to home together discussing all the things that happened at school, gossips about other classmates ,teachers.Excursions, Holidays and all the fun was together.

Every year they moved up to the next class and still remained the best friends. Somewhere along the road something was lost. Being together was never the same. It was two different people with different views, ideas, interests. There was nothing together,that was left. However, life at school is always funny. You have so many friends ,you realise the true ones only when you are out of school. Like the rest of the world they still remained good friends although they knew it was never the same. From being a wall to each other they became just another brick in the wall. Like we all do, promises were made to keep in touch. If keeping in touch meant “hi” every now and then, there is nothing difficult about it.Today, when text messaging is free a hi every now and then still means keeping in touch?. Were all those promises mere promises?

Is it necessary to have common likings to remain good friends? Is Talking to friends often, hanging out with them, expressing happiness and sorrows an indicator of true friendship? Is remembering an old friend on the way back from college in an absolute out context situation, true friendship?

I would probably go with the first one. But, would remember the others for the rest of my life.  She is certainly not my close friend anymore. I might never be able to give her a call as easily as I would call the others but the fact that I remembered her on a random day is just to show that I miss those days, I miss that girl  I knew!

In a Democracy, all are equal but some are more equal. So India is a democracy, right.

It is election time and controversies have already begun. Varun Gandhi’s ” Hate speech” is the latest. Just at a time when BJP was polishing its tainted image and trying to channalise all its efforts towards projecting a secular image, Varun’s alleged hate speech happened.

India is Secular, Democratic-The constitution says. Over they years the image created for BJP is that it is a “Hindutva” party and Congress is the secular party( Ha ha).

I have a question that i would love to ask the congress( yeah I know..) but obviously this is the only space i get to voice my thoughts. Let us say 10 people read this!!

If Congress is secular why did they not agitate when Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu( their ally infact) hurt the sentiments of  thousands of the Hindus when he called Lord Rama a drunkard. Why is that Varun Gandhi’s voice against the minorites(I don’t endorse it) more wrong than Mr. Chief Minister’s voice against God. Congress is a paradox, they contradict their own principles.

I think it is time we stop being pseudo secularists. If we mean to be secularists we must  be that in every sense of the word. Out of the 120 crore voters , 20 crore Muslims cannot be sidelined. India is a country of diverse culture and religions and so what we need to show the outside world is Unity in diversity. Unity which means all are equal. Unity which means that everything will be done for the upliftment of the minorites but not at the cost of degrading the majority.

2. Thoda Thoda from Indira- This soulful song is simply soothing. I love chitra’s voice in this song.!

3. July Madham vandhal- I got fascinated by this song because I thought the female voice was funny. Now that I am much older, I love the compositon.

4. Yennavale- Even today this is a most frequently played song on my Ipod. Unnikrishnan is amazing.

5.Malargale- I can’t recall the movie but this song is simply superb.

7.Chinna Chinna Asai- I just pinched myself for not putting this right on top of the list. His first song and one of the best. Strangely, everytime I listen to this song it is not the video  of the song that comes to my mind but the asai chocolate advertisement!

It is a humble attempt to try and list down these songs. As I type this Iam remembering songs that I forgot and should have put in this list but Iam going to stop here because if I dont I can go on and on and on.
